Sondos Mohammad Hasan Hejazi

PhD student in Biotechnology

Federico II University of Naples

Biography

I am a Ph.D. student in Biotechnology in the Chemical Sciences Department at Federico II University working under the supervision of Prof. Raffaele Porta and Valeria Giosafatto. With a master’s degree in food science and technology and a Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Food Technology, my academic background has prepared me for a career at the intersection of food, materials, and biotechnology. My current research focuses on the development of biomaterials for various sectors, including food, adhesives, and coatings. I have a strong background in polymer and bioplastics and have already published one article on the subject: “Exploiting Potential Biotechnological Applications of Poly-γ-glutamic Acid Low Molecular Weight Fractions Obtained by Membrane-Based Ultra-Filtration” (Restaino et al., 2022). In addition to my technical skills, I am passionate about creative ideas and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team. I believe that the best solutions are often the result of collective effort and diverse perspectives. Prior to my Ph.D., I gained practical experience working in a factory in Palestine, which has provided me with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities of manufacturing processes. Currently, I am expanding the application of Poly-γ-glutamic Acid by exploring its potential with other biopolymers.
