Biography

Elisa Martinelli is an associate professor at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, University of Pisa. Shereceived the MSc degree in Industrial Chemistry (2004) and the PhD degree in Chemical Sciences (2008) from the Universityof Pisa. She spent periods doing research abroad, including Ivoclar-Vivadent AG (Liechtenstein), University of Birmingham(UK) and University of Newcastle (UK). Her research interests are in the design, synthesis, post-modification, formulation and characterization in bulk and at the surface of functional polymeric materials for sustainable (nano)technologies in differentadvanced applications, with particular reference to non toxic, biocide-free antifouling coatings. In the letter field her scientificactivities take also advantage of collaborations with important international research centers, including ETH-Zurich, MaxPlanck Institute for Polymer Research (Mainz), Cornell University (Ithaca NY) and Laboratoire MAPIEM (University of Toulon).She has also been involved in numerous research projects, namely EU-funded projects on the prevention and release ofmarine biofouling (FP6 AMBIO, FP7 SEACOAT, FP7 LEAF). She is coauthor of 73 publications (1564 citations, h-index = 23)in international journals, one book chapter and three industrial patents.
