Synopsis

This paper will present a patented technology for making high molecular weight isocyanate-free polyurethanes (NIPU) with high bio carbon content. Polymers with high and controlled molecular weights can be produced without the use of catalyst and with short reaction times. The polyurethane polymers obtained are hydroxyl functional resins, which can be used for producing 1K- thermoset isocyanate-free PU-coatings with excellent adhesion and scratch resistant to PC/ABS as well as steel substrates. Model clear coat formulations will be shown with the Cyclicor™ resins and curing properties, scratch resistance, adhesion and chemical resistance of obtained coatings will be demonstrated.
