Binder design with biobased raw materials for sustainable coatings

Synopsis

The vision of a sustainable economy, based on “circulating”, re-using or deconstructing resources, is rapidly advancing: the main targets for a new coating product are thus extending the life of the products onto which they are applied and reducing their own carbon footprint.

It is necessary to develop products with high technical properties and production processes with reduced impact on the environment.
A solution developed in our laboratories is a new range of water based coatings products polymerized with new raw materials coming from renewable sources; these raw materials ensure a reduced carbon footprint while maintaining or improving the technical performances of the standard fossil based products.
